About Rhonda
Pastor / Teacher
I’m the Outreach & Teaching Pastor at Peoples Church in Bourbonnais, IL. I love teaching adults how to dig deeper into the Word of God see them glean their own “Aha!” moments from Jesus. Because my healing journey relied so heavily on spending quiet time with the Lord, I have made my mission to help others learn to feel ‘safe’ in their solitude with Jesus. For many, getting ‘alone with God’ means entering what feels like a war zone with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. I’m passionate about helping churches recognize this barrier for many hurting people and teaching them to support these precious ones as they learn to be still before God.
Family
I am most proud of my roles as wife to my best friend, Thom and mother to Aidan, Evan, and Liv.
Connector
As a natural connector/entrepreneur, I founded the Mental Health Network Kankakee County. My community holds a higher-than-average rate of suicide. While supporting loved ones searching for mental health services, I discovered many people didn’t know critical services existed or how to access them. Seeing a need for building awareness and sharing resources across all sectors in my county, I founded a unique network of anyone who wanted to learn more about mental health. Together, the providers and residents in Kankakee County are working together to strengthen their response to the mental health needs of their community.
Rhonda’s VISION
To incite others to GO DEEPER in their faith, their connections, and in their purpose.
Rhonda’s STYLE
I’m a connector to my core. Because I have found great freedom in Christ as He met me in my sorrows, I naturally aim to connect with others to offer them the same healing. Always with coffee in hand, and with a fountain of metaphors, I stretch out my story as a bridge for others. I hope to challenge those who are suffering to brave freedom from the chasms that threaten to swallow our lives. I’ve learned to lean into the places in my faith that make me uncomfortable and explore…unpack…and expect to learn. I offer you the same adventure.
Rhonda’s PASSION
My God. My Family. My Coffee. My Plants.
Seriously… I am passionate about helping others hear from God for themselves. It’s been the most life-giving, crucial part of my healing journey. For many, learning to sit with God in solitude is an unsafe, scary prospect. I want to help transform these meeting places from battlegrounds to places of deep connection with Jesus.
